A growing percentage of donors use the Web to evaluate potential donations, regardless of how they finally make their gift. A 2002 study commissioned by the Network for Good found that for every online donor, there were four or five would-be donors who visit an organization’s website as part of their personal due diligence.
The Web can also be used for online giving. Online giving is the single cheapest, fastest, and most efficient fundraising vehicle in existence. And it’s only possible through the Internet. So if you don’t yet have a mechanism for collecting online donations (i.e., accepting credit cards), it’s time to start. And the best place to start is UJCweb.
Setting up a system for taking online donations may seem daunting. But it doesn’t have to be. UJCweb simplifies this process dramatically with features like an easy-to-use form-building tool, donor management and reporting tools, and much more. UJCweb also makes it easy for you to show donors where there money goes, with online charts and graphs. In addition, UJCweb makes it easy for people to learn about and register for events at the federation and in the Jewish community at large.
As of May 2005, 61 federations are processing credit card payments online for campaign contributions and event registration:
- $3.2 million has been processed through Secure e-commerce
- Over 11,000 individual transactions
- $289 average online donation
